Micropigmentation, also known as semi-permanent makeup, is a cosmetic procedure used to enhance or replace lost skin color. It is most commonly used to highlight the brows, eyelids (as eyeliner), and lips. It's also used to conceal scars, even out skin tone, and give the appearance of fuller hair on the scalp. Micropigmentation is a cosmetic and/or corrective enhancement technique in which minute pigment granules and non-allergic and non-toxic pigments are implanted into the skin. Typically, 2-4 treatments are required. This can be done in a doctor's office in under two hours. To keep the patient comfortable during the procedure, a topical anesthetic is applied. Pigments are mixed to match the skin tone of each individual patient. The results are visible immediately, but the final results will not be visible for about three weeks.
